Why I built Satisfying Plate
I've spent years studying metabolic health, hormones, and weight, both as a certified coach and as someone living it firsthand. At one point I lost close to 100 pounds and reversed prediabetes. Then life got stressful, old patterns crept back, and the weight came with them.
That's the part most coaches don't say out loud. I'm not here pretending I have all the answers or that I've got this fully solved. I'm sharing what I'm learning, what I still struggle with, and what has helped, not another plan that demands you cut everything out overnight and white-knuckle your way through it.
I'd rather share what's real than pretend to be finished.
Satisfying Plate exists because I kept seeing the same pattern, in myself and in people I coached. Diets that cut out sugar, carbs, and every comfort food at once fail because that kind of restriction spikes cravings instead of calming them, and most plans never mention how much protein it takes to actually feel full.
The approach here is the one that's worked for me: wean sugar down instead of quitting cold, build meals around a satisfying plate of real food, and let the cravings loosen their grip gradually instead of fighting them head on.
My background
Certified Holistic Nutrition and Health Coach, trained online through Nutraphoria, a school based in British Columbia. Shelly works from Manitoba, Canada.
Certified Ketogenic Living Coach, a CPD-accredited certification recognized by fitness and coaching bodies including NASM, AFAA, ISSA, and Canfitpro.
Before any of this I built and sold a gourmet food business over more than a decade. I still take the occasional one-on-one client, but most of my energy now goes into helping more people than I could ever reach one at a time. That means the free tools on this site, recipe ebooks, and GlucoSensei, my blood sugar tracking app, now live in the App Store. Building things like these is the part I love. You can still reach me through the contact page.
